KARACHI, Nov 20: At least five people were injured when a bomb exploded in a cinema hall here on Sunday night.

The low-intensity explosion took place in Kumar Cinema, near Lee Market in Lyari.

The explosive device was placed under a seat in the hall, but the blast took place during interval when a very small number of people were present there.

The explosion took place when people were retuning to the hall after interval, DIG South Shaukat Ali Shah told Dawn.

Initial findings suggest that it was an improvised explosive device which was apparently attached to a timer.

All the injured, who suffered minor wounds, had been taken to the Civil Hospital for treatment, the officer added.
