ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Secretary for Petroleum and Natural Resources Tariq Khattak on Wednesday told the National Assembly that the construction of Pak-Iran gas pipeline project would start after the completion of bankable feasibility study.

Replying to various questions in the Question Hour, he said that the Iranian side reportedly had already completed about 900 km pipeline out of total 1220 km in their territory.

He said that Pakistan would lay 781 km pipeline in its territory and the project would be completed by December 2014.

He said that average daily supply and demand of natural gas in the country during the current month was 3,768 MMCFD and 5,493 MMCFD respectively. Natural gas loadshedding and weekly closure of CNG stations would end when the gap between its demand and supply was diminished, he added.
