SUKKUR, Nov 23: The district administration of Ghotki has asked the Ghousia Jamaat not to hold the much publicised meeting of former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the ground near Qadirpur bypass of the National Highway on Nov 27.

The administration has asked the Jamaat to change the venue of meeting on the pretext that meeting in the ground will be security threat for people and cause suspension of flow of vehicular traffic between Sindh and Punjab..

The deputy commissioner of Ghotki is reported to have told the Ghousia Jamaat to change the venue of its meeting because they would not be allowed to hold the meeting in the ground.

The district administration, according to an official handout issued on Wednesday, has suggested that the public school premises on the Mirpur Mathelo road was suitable for the public meeting where the former PPP leader is expected to announce his future political strategy.

The handout said that parking of vehicles would be easy at the public school. It said that there were police reports of terrorism and tribal clashes, especially at the venue of the meeting, which might lead to blockade of the highway and suspension of traffic from the rest of country towards Karachi. Besides, passengers travelling in public transport will also face massive problems.

Meanwhile, a leader of the Ghousia Jamaat, Amanullah Dars, at a press conference said that they would never accept the change of venue because arrangements had been finalised.

He rejected the administrations apprehensions and asked the administration to provide security. The meeting would remain peaceful and in control of thousands of followers of Mr Qureshi coming from different parts of Sindh and Punjab, he said.
