QUETTA, Nov 29: The Balochistan cabinet has decided to move the Supreme Court against the verdict of the Balochistan High Court which set aside the Balochistan Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Act.

Balochistan Advocate General Amanullah Kanrani and the home secretary briefed the meeting presided over by Chief Minister Aslam Raisani here on Monday evening about the impact of the BHC verdict on administrative structure and powers.

The cabinet instructed the law department to constitute a team of senior lawyers to file a constitutional petition in the Supreme Court.

Mr Raisani told the meeting that the Balochistan Assembly has constitutional rights pass legislations and that right would be defended.

The cabinet endorsed the federal government's decision to stop Nato supplies to Afghanistan in reaction to the Nato attack on Pakistani security forces.

The meeting flayed the Nato air strike and demanded of the federal government to evolve a strategy to put a halt to such attacks in future.

The meeting approved a resolution moved by Minister Mir Abdur Rehman Jamali. The resolution said that unconstitutional and undemocratic ways were being adopted to derail democracy.

It further said that the assemblies would complete their five-year tenure and all nefarious designs against democracy would be foiled.

The resolution paid rich tribute to Benazir Bhutto for her services for the restoration of democracy.
