KARACHI, Dec 2: One qualifier is among others who have stormed into different finals of the fifth DG Rangers Sindh national squash championship at Rangers Jahangir Khan squash complex on Friday.

Qualifier Asim Khan from Punjab was two games up (13-11, 11-4) against Aqif Zaib of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa when the latter pulled his calf muscle which forced him to retire.

Asim now meets Salman Zaib of the PAF who was home 11-4, 11-7, 11-3 against Babrak Khan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the other semi-final.

Top seed Farhan Zaman was stretched to limits before overcoming Sheikh Saquib to reach the men’s final. The former won the battle 11-4, 9-11, 11-8, 9-11, 11-8 in 54-minutes. He is slated to face third seed Nasir Iqbal who whipped qualifier Tayyab Aslam 14-12, 11-6, 11-4.

Sindh’s Faiza Zafar was also compelled to retire after losing two games to Saadia Gul 5-11, 7-11 due to hamstring in the women’s semi-final.

The event concludes on Saturday with all finals on card.
