RAWALPINDI, Dec 27: Four wanted terror suspects, including a leader of the outlawed Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, involved in the killing of four security personnel and a civilian at Pir Chambal in Jhelum have been captured; Dawn learnt on Tuesday.

A source said one of the terror suspects arrested by security agencies was Dr Arshad of Lashkar-i-Jhangvi.

The four security men and a civilian were found shot dead on November 12 after they went missing during an unsuccessful attempt to capture the Lashkar-i-Jhangvi leader at Pir Chambal.

Dr Arshad, who was wanted by the local police in connection with kidnapping for ransom and other heinous crimes, belonged to Pind Dadan Khan town.

His three accomplices - Mazhar Hussain, Iqbal Ahmed and Wasif Mehmood - were also arrested, said the security source.

He added that since the investigation into the killing of the security officials, 11 police officials, including a woman, posted in Jhelum and Chakwal had also been investigated by a joint investigation team though none of them was formally booked.

A police official said a departmental inquiry was still underway against the police officials who had already been suspended in connection with the Pir Chambal incident.
