PESHAWAR, Dec 27: The Pakistan People's Party leaders and workers on Tuesday paid tribute to former prime minister Benazir Bhutto at different programmes arranged in connection with her fourth death anniversary, recalling her services for strengthening of democracy in the country.

Following Quran Khwani for the slain leader at Gulbahar, the PPP workers took out a rally from Hashtnagri to Chowk Yadgar, which was led by PPP provincial spokesman Syed Ayub Shah, former district nazim Azam Afridi, Tahir Abbas and Zulfiqar Afghani. Holding banners and placards, the participants demanded of the PPP government to arrest the killers of the former prime minister.

Meanwhile, a seminar was held at Peshawar Press Club under the auspices of People's Doctors Forum and People's Youth Organisation where the PPP activists vowed to accomplish the mission of Ms Bhutto. They demanded of the government to expose the killers of the slain party leader, who gave her life for supremacy of democracy. The activists said that they were ready to foil conspiracies against the party and government.

They said that the PPP never bowed before dictators and continued struggle for strengthening of democracy and institutions in the country.

The speakers included PDF provincial president Dr Nisar, labour wing provincial president Anwar Zeb, minister for population welfare Saleem Khan, PYO president Gohar Inqilabi and others. A large number of student activists and party workers attended the seminar.

The speakers said that the PPP had always faced conspiracies when it was in power. The activists said that the PPP had always raised voice for the rights of poor.

They said that former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had made the country a nuclear power.

They recalled that the party's slain chairperson, Benazir Bhutto, had dedicated her life to the welfare of poor masses and never compromised on principles.

“We will accomplish the mission of Benazir and are ready for any sacrifice in this regard,” they said. The activists said that their party had restored the 1973 Constitution to its original form.

They said that the PPP had fulfilled its commitment of making provinces autonomous through the 18th constitutional amendment. TIMERGARA:

The PPP, Lower Dir, held a function here on Tuesday to observe the death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto.

Party workers and lawmakers from the area attended the function. Provincial minister for technical education Mahmood Zeb Khan, party's former district president Aurangzeb Khan and others paid tribute to the slain party leader.

They said that Ms Bhutto would remain alive in the hearts of the party workers for the role she played for political independence and democracy in Pakistan. BUNER:

The PPP, Buner district, also organised functions to observe the death anniversary and recall services of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto. Quran Khwani was also held on the occasion and speakers said that Ms Bhutto's services for democracy would always be remembered.
