GILGIT, Jan 4: Unknown attackers gunned down deputy superintendent of police (investigation) Mohammad Ibrahim here on Wednesday. “DSP Mohammad Ibrahim, who was brought here with bullet wounds, died in the DHQ hospital,” said doctors.
Police said that unidentified people opened firing on Mr Ibrahim in a congested locality of Gilgit city on Wednesday evening.
As a result, he received bullet injuries and later died in the hospital, they said.
The police said that doctors operated upon Mr Ibrahim and shifted him to ward, but he did not survive.
Meanwhile, Sikandar Hayat, a resident of Shigar, was found dead in a market at Jutial, Gilgit. Police said that the body had been sent for autopsy.
In another case, Badar Shah committed suicide in Gahkuch by shooting himself. He was taken to Singal hospital in critical condition, but did not survive.
Police said that one Azizullah was injured when unidentified people opened fire on him in Gilgit. They said that Mr Aziz was taken to DHQ hospital where, according to doctors, his condition was stable.
RESHUFFLE: A major reshuffle is expected in the police department and administration within a couple of days, sources in the GB Secretariat told this correspondent on Wednesday.
They said that top officials, including secretaries and deputy commissioners, are likely to be reshuffled.
