LAHORE, Nov 27: A five-member delegation of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) will attend various meetings of the Internaional Hockey Federation’s Committees being held in Perth, Australia from Nov 26-Dec 5.
These meetings are being held on the eve of FIH Congress whose most important item on the agenda is elections on some important slots of the Games Ruling Body.
A spokesman of the PHF told APP here Wednesday that FIH elections will be held for the posts of Secretary General, Treasurer, Vice Presidents, and the five member Executive Board.The election of the FIH President took place two years ago and will be held after expiary of four years term.
Pakistan will be represented in four committees by Islah uddin Siddique (Rule Board), Col retd Mudassar Asghar (Competition), Shahbaz Sr (athletes penal) and Sardar Khan (media). Secretary PHF, Brig Musarrat Ullah Khan will attend the FIH congress being held on Jan 5.
The congress will examine the working of the respective committees and will approve their recommendations for the further development of hockey.
The PHF spokesman said Pakistan’s representation in a number of committees reflects its infulance in the Games Governing Body.
He said Brig (retd) Manzoor Hussain Atif will preside his last meeting in the FIH as the President of the Rule Board.
He dispelled the impression that those going to attend meetings are on joyrides and said representing the country in FIH is a great honour for any country and it is the first time that Pakistan have a heavy representation in FIH committees due to the devoted efforts of PHF.—APP
