KARACHI, Jan 23: Zohair Raza, Talha Zubair and Maheen Dada won their respective matches in the Subh-e-Nau Ranking Tennis Series at the CDGK Sports Complex tennis courts here on Monday. Zohair Raza beat Saud Shahid in straight sets in the men’s singles clash. In the most interesting match of the day, Haris Iltifat went down fighting to Talha Zubair.

Talha was 4 points up in first set when Haris changed gears and won the next 5 points.

However, Talha displaying his experience won the set in tie break and also clinched the second set.

In another match, Maheen Dada emerged taller than Ayesha Meer in ladies singles match. She overpowered her opponent by 6-3 and 6-1.

All category matches are being played on Round Robin League basis.

Results: Men’s singles: Syed Zohair Raza bt Saud Shahid 6-2, 6-0; Talha Zubair bt Haris Iltifat 7-6(7-5), 6-2; Aslam Pervez bt Yahya Gabol 7-5, 6-4.

Ladies singles: Maheen Dada bt Ayesha Meer 6-3, 6-1; Shahida Farooq bt Amber Khan 6-0, 6-0.

Boys’ and Girls’ U-14: Hassan Farooq bt Hania Naveed 6-0, 6-3.—Agencies
