KARACHI, Feb 6: A fine all-round performance by Rizwan Khan helped Omar CC of Karachi defeat Dadu’s Brothers CC by a narrow margin of nine runs in the final of the All Sindh Balochistan Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto cricket tournament at the PCB Ground in Dadu on Sunday.

After skipper Adnan Kaleem won the toss and opted to bat first, Omar CC were all out for a modest 159 in 30 overs with Shaharyar Ghani (42), Fazal Subhan (31), Rizwan Khan (31) and Nauman Alvi (25) the main run-getters.

Leg-spinner Zahid Mahmood captured three wickets for 36 runs, while slow left-arm Pir Zulfiqar Ali snared 2-21.

Brothers CC, in reply, were restricted to 150-9 in their 30 overs. Their main scorers were Waqas Ali (35), Faraz Ali (30), Hafiz Asad Baig (29), Waqar Ahmed Lund (25) and Ghulam Shabbir who remained unbeaten with 20 For Omar CC, slow left-armer Nauman Alvi was the chief wicket-taker with excellent figures of four for 21. He received good support from Rizwan Khan (3-36) and Adnan Kaleem (2-20).

Dr Niaz Ali Abbas, the deputy commissioner of Dadu, was the chief guest at the final and distributed the prizes.

Adnan Kaleem collected the winners’ trophy and cash award of Rs50,000, while Brothers CC captain Ghulam Shabbir took the runners-up trophy and Rs30,000 on behalf on his team.

Rizwan and Nauman were declared joint man-of-the-final and shared the a cash prize of Rs5,000. The Rs3,000 Man-of-the-Tournament went to Omar CC’s all-rounder Akbar-ur-Rehman, while the Brothers CC’s Waqar Ahmed Lund received the best wicket-keeper award of Rs3,000. Asghar Ali of Dadu’s Unity Gymkhana got the Rs3,000 best bowler prize, while the award for the best batsman was split between Omar CC’s Fazal Subhan and Shaharyar Ghani.
