The British Council is celebrating the 200th birthday of Charles Dickens through Dickens 2012 - a series of global activities including brand new film adaptations, art exhibitions, public readings, immersive theatre, educational events, creative workshops and competitions.

One main “character” distinctly present in all of Dickens’ novels is the city of London itself, with interesting depictions of all aspects of the capital.

Inspired by Dickens’ strong association with London, the British Council Pakistan invited aspiring photographers to capture various cities of Pakistan through photographic imagery, akin to Dickens’ literary descriptions of London under its “Dickens and the City” photography competition.

Out of many wonderful entries received, 15 were short-listed by professional photographer Ayaz Anis. The final winner and two runners up were selected by renowned Pakistani fashion photographer Tapu Javeri and will be announced later today.
