PESHAWAR, Feb 13: PML-N, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, vice-president and former provincial minister Anwar Kamal Khan Marwat died of cardiac failure here at Lady Reading Hospital on Monday morning.

Anwar Kamal Marwat, a practising lawyer, was born on 19th November, 1947 at Bannu. He was son of Justice (retd) Habibullah Khan, the first chairman of the Senate of Pakistan.

He was elected member of the Senate in March 1997 for a period of six years. He was also a member of Senate standing committees on water and power, planning and development and local government and rural development.

He was a member of the provincial assembly in 1988-90 and again from 1993-96. He was deputy parliamentary leader in KP assembly from 1993-96. He also remained provincial minister for planning and development from 1988 to 1990 and again from 1993 to 1994.

Mr Kamal Marwat was also elected unopposed as chairman town/municipal committees Lakki Marwat during 1982-1987 and 83-85. — APP

Our correspondent from Lakki Marwat adds: Anwar Kamal Khan Marwat was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Lakki city on Monday.

His body was shifted to his hometown where a large number of people from different walks of life attended funeral prayers offered in the children park in the heart of city.
