KARACHI, Feb 27: Dow Club stunned Neighbourhood Club seniors 50-42 while Karachi Basketball Club (KBBC) staged a late recovery to post 50-45 victory in the semi-finals of the Sindh Sports Minister Cup Inter-club basketball tournament at Arambagh floodlit court on Sunday evening.

Playing one of the best matches, Dow Club, which includes some doctors also reached their maiden final by pulling up a sort of an upset against an experienced outfit.

Tahir Ahmed 13, Ahsan 12, Hamza 10, Ammar 9 and Khalid 6 were instrumental in team’s success which led 26-21 at half time.For losers, no player could reach the double figure. Fahad Ahmed nine, Raja Zahid and Shakir eight apiece, and Hammad seven were the main scorers.

The KBBC, which is one of the oldest clubs of the city, delighted the spectators by notching up well deserved victory after being tied 22-all at half time.

Agha M. Ibrahim turned out to be the top scorer with 16 and was equally supported Adnan Ali 13. Other notable scorers were Babar Saleem eight, Akmal Jamil seven and Abdullah Imam six.

Hammad Khan, Taha, Ali Raza, Hammad junior and Mohsin contributed 12, 10, eight, seven and six respectively.

The final between Dow Club and KBBC will be played on Wednesday evening. Prior to the final, Neighbourhood Club seniors meet Askari Club in the third position play-off.
