ISLAMABAD: The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has issued show-cause notices to seven courier service providers for misleading consumers by using the trademark of DHL Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd fraudulently and without authority for advertisement and marketing purposes.

The act is a violation of Section 10 of the Competition Act, 2010.

The commission said DHL Pakistan had filed seven complaints alleging that Uzair Zain-ul-Abidin, Asif Iqbal, Waqqas Ahmad Malik, Nauman Anwar Butt, Rehan Sheikh, Malik M. Pervaiz of the ACCS International World Wide Express and Raja Asir Munir (respondents) were fraudulently using its stylised and artistically created logo, trademark without its or its principal’s permission, authorisation and consent.

An inquiry by the CCP found that no authorisation had been given by the DHL to the respondents to use its trademark, thus its use by them for advertisement, marketing purposes, prima facie, was fraudulent and amounted to deceptive marketing practices in terms of Section 10 of the Competition Act.
