ISLAMABAD: Week-long Swat Snow festival is attracting a large number of local and foreign tourists at Malam Jabba, Swat with entertainment of winter tourism.

The festival features attractions like Demo Skiing by Skiers, fun visits to Ski areas, live musical evenings, and many other entertaining moments.

Right To Play, an international development and humanitarian organization has organized the festival in collaboration with Pakistan Army that will continue till March 10.

According to the organizers, the theme behind the festival was to revive the tradition of celebrating winter and snow fall with tourism festival that was fading during the last few years after security situation in the area of Swat.

Malam Jabba skiing resort was demolished by the insurgents in 2008. Skiing and winter tourism had been the main source of employment in the area which was crippled.

“When the area declared safe for tourism by the Army, the initiative for holding such festival was taken to invite the local and foreign tourists and revive the resort,” said the organizers.

The event opened the doors of tourism in Swat once again that will not only give earning opportunities to the local tourism industry but also promote soft image of the country worldwide with the activities of tourists, said one of the participant of the festival.
