ISLAMABAD: The Abbottabad commission, tasked with probing the May 2 incidents in Abbottabad that resulted in the killing of Osama bin Laden, held a detailed interactive session on Tuesday with Air Marshal (Retd) Shahid Latif.

The commission held a meeting here chaired by Justice Javed Iqbal and attended by members of the commission Ashraf Jehangir Qazi, and Lt Gen (Retd) Nadeem Ahmed.

During today’s meeting, the commission decided to summon Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), former ISI chiefs Gen (Retd) Ziauddin Butt and Lt. Gen. (Retd) Nadeem Taj, and Brig (Retd) Ijaz Shah, Former DG (IB).

In an interview given to DawnNews, former DG ISI Ziauddin Butt had confessed that Ijaz Shah, who was heading the Intelligence Beareau (IB) during former president Gen Pervez Musharraf’s regime, was aware of Osama bin Laden’s presence in Abbottabad.

The commission will submit its final report after it completes recording statements from all the respondents.
