LARKANA, March 23: A bomb explosion destroyed a portion of rail track near the railway underpass on Friday.

The powerful explosion injured a man and shattered windowpanes of a nearby medical centre.

Police believe the explosion was caused by locally-made bomb.

SSP of Larkana Aetzaz Ahmed Goraya told journalists that a two-foot portion of the track had been damaged. But railway sources said the damaged portion measured only 1.4 inches.

The SSP said a pamphlet issued by ‘Sindhu Desh Liberation Army’ was found at the place. It was a two-page pamphlet, police sources said.

DSP Mohammad Amin Khoso said a passerby, Saeed Ahmed Soomro, was injured. He was taken to Chandka Medical College Hospital.

JSMM activist picked up

Law-enforcement personnel picked up Akbar Dakhan, president of the Larkana chapter of Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz from near Jattan-jo-Laro in Dokri suburbs on Thursday evening.

This was stated by Mr Dakhan’s relatives, but police denied having made the arrest.

On Friday, a strike was observed in Dokri and JSMM activists burnt tyres at the Haidar Bakhsh Jatoi Chowk. Later, they observed a token hunger strike outside the press club in Larkana. They were demanding release of Mr Dakhan.

Earlier in the day, a pylon of a high transmission electricity line near Khuhra village on the outskirts of Badah near Dokri was damaged when five explosives planted near its foundation went off.
