RAWALPINDI, March 24: Special assistant to Punjab chief minister for health Khawaja Suleman Rafiq on Saturday expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of work at Rawalpindi Cardiology Institute (RCI) worth Rs2.1 billion at Rawal Road during his visit to the site.

He directed the provincial health department and City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) to complete the installation of air-conditioning and heating system besides the construction of sewerage system at the institute as Punjab CM has allocated the funds for the remaining work of the project. He was informed that construction work worth Rs1 billion had almost been completed but some minor works including construction of drains to bring the sewerage out of the hospital was left.

Upon this he criticised health officials and directed to complete the work as soon as possible as the CM was interested in its completion at the earliest.

Earlier, he visited the three hospitals in the city during which the local administration gave him a presentation on dengue surveillance.

While addressing the high level meeting of divisional administration at commissioner’s office, he announced to increase the entomologists’ seats in the district from one to six to conduct the anti-dengue drive on scientific grounds. He said the surveillance campaign would continue vigorously and larva siding campaign would be started from next month along with enhancing awareness campaign.

He said that 180 beds have been reserved for dengue patients in all the three teaching hospitals of Rawalpindi besides allocation of 200 beds in various private hospitals of the city.
