SWABI, March 28: Four people were killed when two parties clashed over a land dispute, while a man killed his wife over a family issue here on Wednesday.

Talking to this correspondent, Kalu Khan police station SHO Izhar Shah said that the clash over the land dispute occurred in remote mountainous village of Takhto Lalu Khanpur, situated near the boundary of Swabi and Buner districts.

He claimed that one party belonged to Swabi and the other to Buner and they clashed over a piece of land located on the Swabi side. The SHO said that the area fell in Kalu Khan police station jurisdiction.

Mr Shah said that the two parties opened fire on each other, resulting in the killing of Ghareeb Shah and Jangraiz Khan, both from Parmulai village of Swabi, while Haleem Haidar and his son Bahadar Khan, hailing from Buner district, also lost their lives. Raj Bahadar, son of Mr Haidar, was injured in the clash.

The SHO said that both the parties would register FIRs against each other with the Kalu Khan police station.

Meanwhile, a man killed his wife in Shagai village here on Wednesday, police said.

They said that the woman, Obaida Begum, had left her husband’s home a few months ago and was living with his parents. She had also filed a case in the family court for divorce from her husband, Sher Alam.

The police said that Mr Sher chased his wife in the area and shot her dead. Brother of the deceased have registered an FIR in the city police station against Mr Sher.

CONFERENCE: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Youth Wing will hold a ‘youth leadership conference’ at Khunda here on Thursday (today).

Muslim Students Federation’s provincial general secretary Waseem Shah told Dawn on Wednesday that the conference was aimed at educating youth on their effective role in the upcoming election and the mass contact campaign to get people’s support for the party candidates.

He said that youth wing central president Capt (retired) Safdar, PML-N central general secretary Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, provincial president Sabir Shah and district leaders would participate in the conference.
