KARACHI, April 3: Pakistan’s Mohammad Majid Ali blanked Hong Kong’s Chang Yu Kiu 4-0 to register second successive victory and storm into last 16 round of the 13th Asian under-21 snooker championship in the Indian city of Goa on Tuesday.

Picking up from where he had left the other day, Majid, runner-up of the national junior event, completely dominated the play to continue his winning spree in group D. He won the battle 64-8, 55-21, 58-17, 69-15 which includes a break of 67 in the fourth frame.

Earlier, he had opened his campaign while routing Thailand’s Akani Songsermsawad 4-1 in the opener on Monday.

He is slated to meet Iran’s Slyavosh Mozayani in the last fixture.

National junior champion Hunain Aamir overcame some anxious moments to send India’s Lalit Dhaiya packing in the fully stretched battle 4-3. Hunain was home 68-33, 8-83, 26-59, 68-59, 71-9, 44-55, 86-61.

Drawn in group ‘A’ which also includes reigning world champion Hussain Vafaei Ayouri of Iran, Hunain meets Singapore’s Marcus Lim Wie Jie in the second match.

It is pertinent to mention that Hussain went down to Thailand’s Thepchaiya Un-Nooh 6-7 in the epic final of an international event held in the city last month.

As many as 32 cueists who are competing in the event have been drawn into eight equal groups with hosts India fielding six.
