KOHAT, April 4: Two policemen and as many passers-by were injured in firing when two groups clashed in Raisan bazaar in Hangu on Wednesday.

A police team had been rushed to the area to stop firing by two groups. Constables Mohammad Khan and Takbeer Ali sustained bullet injuries. Two passersby, Aklhaq Ali and Rawan Ali, also sustained wounds. They were shifted to district headquarters hospital.

In another incident, Abdul Hadi was shot dead by his rivals in Darwazi Palosi area of Hangu on Wednesday.

ROAD ACCIDENT:One person was killed and his two companions were injured when a truck hit a motorcycle in Chorlakki area of Gumbat on Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Mudassar Khan of Chorlakki, who died on the spot. His companions Mohammad Ilyas and Laiquat Ali were injured and taken to hospital.

The Gumbat police registered a case against the driver, Gohar Rehman, and impounded his truck.

KIDNAPPERS ARRESTED:The police arrested four kidnappers along with 39 other outlaws during an operation on Wednesday.

The Lachi tehsil police raided a hujra and arrested proclaimed offenders Hayat Mir alias Khwajak, Sher Nawaz, Ajmal and Kahistaullah.

The accused had been involved in kidnapping people for ransom.

Later, the police arrested 30 anti-state elements and recovered huge quantity of weapons from their possession. The seizure included five Kalashnikovs, eight rifles, 12 shotguns, 20 pistols, 1,200 cartridges and 12 kilograms of hashish.

THREE BITTEN:Three shepherds were injured after bitten by a mad jackal in the forests of Chambai village on Wednesday.

The injured persons were taken to the local basic health unit for treatment where they were administered necessary anti-dotes by the doctors to save their lives.

Eight years old Javed, whose condition was serious, was brought to the women and children hospital.

Local people said the area of Chambai astride the Indus Highway was full with jackals which sometimes entered the fields and came face to face with the residents.
