HYDERABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the Foreign Office has already issued a policy statement regarding the issue of Hafiz Saeed while he himself presented the point of view of the government during address to the joint sitting of the Parliament.

The Prime Minister said this while talking to media persons at the wedding ceremony of the son of Federal Law Minister Moula Bakhsh Chandio here on Friday night.

He said Pakistan has bilateral relations with the United States and India and if both the countries have sustainable evidence against Hafiz Saeed, it should be provided to Pakistan.

“The judiciary in Pakistan is independent,” he said.

About the boycott by Maulana Fazal-ur- Rehman on Nato issue, the prime minister said the government has no authority as the issue is being considered by a parliamentary committee.

Regarding memo issue, he said the government had provided facilities to Mansoor Ijaz but he did not appear before the parliamentary committee, which he said was contempt of the Parliament.

The prime minister said that Husain Haqqani should be facilitated in the same way as Mansoor Ijaz was facilitated.

About Karachi situation, the prime minister said that the government is concerned over the law and order situation and it is cooperating with the Law Enforcement Agencies and the Sindh Government to restore law and order in Karachi.

Responding to a question about Balochistan, the prime minister said the Balochistan Government is implementing the decision given by the Court.

He said injustices had been done with the Baloch people in the past. The people of Balochistan are patriotic, who rendered great sacrifices for the creation of Pakistan and the present government is striving to address their issues and remove the sense of deprivation among them.

Replying to a question about PML-N, the prime minister said that the PML-N is a political party which is ruling in Punjab province and playing the role of opposition in the Centre. The PML-N has its own manifesto and program and the PPP leadership and workers understand that diversity of views is the beauty of democracy.
