QUETTA: The Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) said on Friday that it would continue its struggle against sectarianism, extremism and lawlessness to protect the rights of Hazara Shias. Activists of the HDP led by its chairman Abdul Khaliq Hazara took out a procession from the Alamdar road and gathered at the GPO chowk.

They raised slogans against the government’s failure to arrest the terrorists targeting the Hazara community.

The HDP chief condemned the killing of three Hazaras on the Sharea Iqbal and in Liaquat bazaar on Thursday and said the killers escaped after the attack without any fear of police.

He said that a day before the incident six Hazaras had been killed in a shop on a busy road in the provincial capital, but police and Frontier Corps personnel failed to arrest the killers.

Khaliq Hazara said the basic reason for killing Hazaras by the terrorists was the lukewarm behaviour of the provincial government and law-enforcement agencies to take action against the culprits.

He said that 10 innocent persons of the community had been killed during the last one week, but law-enforcement personnel remained silent spectators.

The HDP leader said that earlier the killers attacked deserted streets and suburban areas, but inaction of police made the terrorists so brave that now they come to the main busy bazaars to attack Hazaras.

He said that killing of innocent people could not force the party to give up its struggle against sectarianism, extremism and violence saying the HDP would combat terrorism to safeguard the interests of the peace-loving people.

A large number of people, including tribal elders, Ulema and political activists of the Hazara community attended the burial ceremony of Ahmed Ali, Noor Mohammad and Sakhi Dad at the Hazara graveyard.
