ABU DHABI, April 16: A Japanese manufacturer of home appliances has linked company’s future investment plans for Pakistan to stability and improved security environment.

“There are no immediate investment plans for Pakistan because of the prevailing situation and security issues,” said Panasonic Deputy Managing Director Kamran Khan while talking to newsmen after launching of a new series of home appliances, at St Regis seaside spot. Journalists from Middle East, African states and Pakistan were invited to the event.

The official, however, said that the company would, pursue a vigorous marketing for Pakistan, apart from corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

On this occasion, the manufacturer launched a new series of environment-friendly and energy-efficien (econavi) appliances for 2012 by introducing inverter technology and sensors.

In air-conditioners, there would be a remarkable reduction in energy consumption which would help cut cost of bills as equipment uses sensor to check unnecessary consumption of electricity when the room is empty, and in the case of freezers, equipment targets those spots where certain items, like vegetables or food are placed, explained a company official at a presentation that followed exhibition of appliances. Econavi keeps a three-week record of users daily habits, compiling it into an efficient pattern of cooling to keep food fresh and tasty, the official added. On this occasion, Panasonic announced to place Africa on top of its 2012 agenda.
