KARACHI, April 17: A three-month long Sindh Youth Ministry’s hockey coaches course under the banner of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Programme (BBSYDP) was launched at the Hockey Club of Pakistan here on Tuesday.
Thirty selected coaches from Karachi, Larkana and Khairpur will be attending the course, supervised by former Olympian Iftikhar Syed. Sindh Youth Affair’s Minister Faisal Sabzwari inaugurated the course.
Speaking on the occasion, he hoped these coaches after completing their course will play a vital role in revival of hockey at the school, college and club level.
Sindh Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Shoaib Siddiqui said that the provincial government is trying its best to promote sports in all parts of Sindh.
Olympian Iftikhar Syed advised the participating coaches to make full use of the opportunity and learn more about the modern techniques of the game in order to groom the younger generation for uplift of hockey in Pakistan.
Deputy Project Director Saleem Ahmed Siddiqui, Event Coordinator Asif Azeem and other officials were also present on the occasion.—APP
