MARDAN, April 22: The first three-day industrial exhibition organised by Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mardan, at Sports Complex here concluded on Sunday.

The exhibition was aimed at encouraging the women entrepreneurs of Mardan city and its surrounding areas.

Ambreen Hoti, president of the chamber, told Dawn that the exhibition provided the women entrepreneurs and business associates a chance to share their experiences. She said that various companies had set up around 70 stalls of different items. She praised the provincial government for its cooperation in organising the exhibition.

Former federal minister Azam Khan Hoti also visited the exhibition and praised the chamber’s efforts for encouraging women entrepreneurs of the area.

He said that the government was committed to removing all hurdles to the women development.

“Women are half of our country’s population and they have a very important role to play in development of the country,” he said.

Visitors showed keen interest in stalls and praised organisers of the exhibition. Saima Naveed, a visitor, urged the authorities concerned to organise more such events in Mardan city.

TWO DIE ON ROAD: A woman and her 10-year-old daughter were killed and three other women, all of a family, injured when a tractor-trolley hit a rickshaw here on Sunday.

According to police, the accident occurred on the Mardan western bypass road. They said that a woman, Nazakat, and her minor daughter Laiba died on the spot, while three other women, including Kainaat, Rabia and Sofia, were seriously injured and taken to the DHQ hospital.

It was learnt that the victim and injured women belonged to Nizampur, Nowshera district, and had come here to attend a marriage of their relative.

The city police have registered an FIR against the driver of tractor.
