ABBOTTABAD, Nov 19: Col (retd) Mustafa Jadoon, Nazim of Abbottabad district, has said that the next budget would include development schemes for three years.
He was speaking to the budget session which was passed by the district assembly with thumping majority.
Mr Jadoon told members that Rs60 million has been put at the disposal of the members to be spent on the recommendations of the representatives of 46 union councils.
He pointed out that to generate resources, efforts are underway to take control of the Galyat Development Authority.
To increase revenue, the rest houses in Galyat need to be rented out after the approval of the members.
About the allocation of funds for the special seats, specially to women and minority seats, the district Nazim said that sufficient funds will be made available to members.
For the improvement of roads, Col Jadoon said that Rs70 million have been provided under the SAP and developmental programme.
About the crash programme for the improvement of literacy rate, he said that in every union council, one primary, one middle and one high school will be made English medium. Huge funds have been allocated for furniture and the construction of classrooms specially for girls.
Col Jadoon talking about the formation of the Citizens Community Boards (CCB) he said that it is mandatory under the new local government ordinance and it is meant to create awareness among the people, so that they could own land and government properties which they otherwise don’t, as they had to share 20 per cent in the development schemes.
He added that under the CCB plan, projects will be completed in a short time and will be long lasting.
