PESHAWAR, April 30: A high-ranking international group of monks on Monday visited Chota Lahor and Hund Museum in Swabi.

The group of monks from Korea, Japan and China is currently on a three-day “Gandhara Peace Tour” to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to see the archeological sites of Gandhara civilisation.

A representative of the Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) presented a briefing regarding the historical background of the Gandhara civilisation at the Hund Museum.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Sports, Tourism, Youth Affairs and Archeology, Syed Aqil Shah and Provincial Secretary Archeology Syed Jamaluddin Shah, hosted a reception in honour of the delegation.

Monks Hwa Ran and Bubil and ex-Korean army chief Gen Park Hee Do and other members of the delegation were taken to various archeological sites in Swabi and Chota Lahor.

Members of the delegation observed with keen interest archeological antiques and described some of them as their precious religious asset. They expressed great pleasure over the statues of Buddha.

They also bowed their heads in respect to the statues and said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was a cradle of peace and love and added that they would spread this message in the entire world. They also invited tourists, traders, investors and intellectuals from around the world to visit Pakistan particularly the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
