ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary committee over appointment of judges approved the appointment of Justice Umer Atta Bandial as the chief justice of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday, DawnNews reported.

The meeting of the parliamentary committee was presided over by Aftab Shaban Mirani at the parliament house.

Speaking to media representatives after the meeting, Mirani told that the committee has approved the appointment of the incumbent LHC Chief Justice Azmat Saeed at the Supreme Court while Justice Bandial will replace him at the LHC.

The committee has also approved the appointment of three additional judges Justice Abdul Rasool Memon, Justice Saqib Hussain and Justice Naimatullah at the Sindh High Court (SHC), Mirani added.

Aftab Mirani said that the decisions over appointment of judges has been reached by mutual consensus of the committee members.
