NAWABSHAH, Dec 11: Sindh Chief Secretary K. B. Rind has expressed his concern over the condition of government hospitals in the province.

He was talking to newsmen at the circuit house here the other day after visiting the People’s Medical College Hospital.

Expressing his dissatisfaction over the performance of the health department, Rind said dialysis and other costly machines were lying inoperative in hospitals. He directed the health secretary to ensure the provision of latest health facilities in hospitals.

He said action would be taken against negligent doctors and hospital management.

The chief secretary said he had issued directives for formation of hospital management committees which would include people and officials concerned.

He said the federal government had not yet released Rs1 billion, allocated for the reconstruction of the irrigation system.

He said action would be taken against irrigation officials who were selling water.

Later, the chief secretary inaugurated the Nawabshah Teachers Resource Centre.

KILLED: Two men were killed in an accident on the Nawabshah-Qazi Ahmad Link Road on Sunday.

Ghulam Rasool Soomro and Ghulam Sarwar Mallah were killed when a speedy van overturned after its tie-rod was broken.

The bodies were taken to the People’s Medical College Hospital from where they were handed over to the families.
