
KARACHI: Two persons were killed in Liaquatabad’s C-1 Area as a result of gunfire by unknown persons while a targeted operation was being conducted by rangers in the area, DawnNews reported.
Rangers conducted a targeted operation in Karachi’s Liaquatabad Area, arresting many suspect and recovering illicit weapons.
The suspects were shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigations.
Government of Sindh extended for three months, the powers granted to Rangers and issued a notification in this regards.
A case was registered at the Garden police station against unknown persons for the attack on a rally, called by Sindh’s nationalist party, Awami Tehreek, that had killed four persons. Seven more people were killed in violence that followed the incident.
A province-wide strike was partially observed on Wednesday, on a call given by nationalist parties in protest to the incident, during which seven persons including a woman lost their lives in sporadic incidents of violence in Karachi's Sohrab Goth Northern Bypass, Korangi G Market, Old Haji Camp, Malir City, Lyari, Kharadar and Gulistan-e-Jauhar areas, whereas 20 others were injured as a result of gunfire.
