LAHORE, June 3: Former President Pervez Musharraf has called for general elections to steer the country out of crises.
Addressing party workers at Yuhanabad through video link from London on Sunday, the former army chief said the general elections should be held under the supervision of the army.
Also the president of All Pakistan Muslim League, Musharraf said the elections were the only way to come out of the crises the country was in today. He said the laptop, sasti roti and Benazir Income Support Programme schemes had failed to give any relief to the public rather massive corruption had been committed in their name.
He said the country had reached the verge of disaster due to loadshedding and the government and opposition were doing nothing practical to address the issue. He said during his regime the country progressed.
Musharraf said the people should not give votes to those who had come to power thrice. He said he would return to Pakistan before the next elections.
