Support for CJP

ISLAMABAD: The lawyers’ fraternity on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration at Kutchery Chowk, Rawalpindi to condemn the charges leveled against Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry by property tycoon Malik Riaz.

Expressing solidarity with CJP, the lawyers vowed to foil conspiracy being hatched against the judiciary.

The representatives of Islamabad High Court (IHC), district bar of Islamabad, bar associations of Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench and district bar of Rawalpindi denounced the press conference of Malik Riaz in which he tried to malign the chief justice and his son.Advocate Ahsanuddin Sheikh, President LHC Bar Rawalpindi Division while addressing the lawyers said the property tycoon did not seek justice but tried to malign the judiciary.

In Islamabad, presidents of Islamabad High Court (IHC) bar Syed Nayyab Hassan Gardezi and district bar Islamabad Javed Akbar Shah also held a press conference to express solidarity with the chief justice.

He alleged that the lawyers in the past foiled the conspiracy against the judiciary and now they were also ready to play their role in this regard.—A Reporter
