KARACHI: Pakistan’s Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and his Dutch partner Jean-Julien Rojer reached the men’s doubles quarter-finals at the Unicef Open in Netherlands on Tuesday.
Qureshi and Rojer overcame an initial stiff challenge to beat Alejandro Falla and Santiago Giraldo of Colombia in straight sets. The second-seeded pair bagged the closely-contested first set after a tie-break 7-6 (7-4). In the second set, the recently-crowned Halle Open champions sailed home with ease with a 6-2 scoreline.
The tournament, being held in ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands, is the pair’s last grass-court tournament before the Wimbledon Championships.
Qureshi and Rojer won their second title as a team, when they won the Halle Open in Germany last weekend. Earlier, they won the Estoril Open in Portugal.
