TIMERGARA, Dec 14: The people of Upper and Lower Dir districts have opposed the reshifting of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education from Chakdara in Lower Dir to Mingora in Swat District.

Elected representatives of the two Dir districts, including MPAs Muzaffar Said advocate and Saeed Gul, Lower Dir Nazim Alamzeb, Upper Dir Nazim Sahibzada Tariqullah, union Nazimeen, traders of Timergara, bar associations and teachers have said in their separate statements that Chakdara was the most suitable location for the board offices.

The statements were issued in reaction to a report in newspapers that NWFP Senior Minister Sirajul Haq had favoured the shifting of the offices back to Mingora.

They threatened that if the authorities went ahead with the shifting of the board from Chakdara, it might create a law and order situation.

PROTEST RALLY: In the meanwhile, the students of Degree College Thana and educational institutions in Gulabad, Chakdara, took out a protest rally and blocked the Timergara-Peshawar road.

They demanded that as Chakdara was located at the gateway of Malakand, the board offices should work there so that thousands of students could approach it from all parts of Malakand.

The protesters also raised slogans against the provin-cial senior minister for his statement regarding the reshifting of the board offices to Mingora.

On the other hand, MPA Muzaffar Said advocate ruled out at a press conference, held in Timergara on Saturday, any rift in the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal over the board’s issue.

He said the shifting of the baord to Chakdara was justified as it was located at the centre of Malakand.
