WASHINGTON, June 28: The United States is considering moves to bring financial restrictions on banks and other financial institutions that deal with Lashkar-e-Taiba, official sources told Dawn.
Undersecretary David Cohen of the US Treasury, who visited Pakistan, India and the UAE last week, is believed to have discussed these measures with officials in Islamabad.
The United States may also ask Pakistan to ensure that the Lashkar does not use money changers and other unofficial sources for transferring money from one location to another within Pakistan.
In New Delhi, Mr Cohen discussed with Indian officials various proposals for safeguarding the US, Indian, and international financial sectors from abuse by terrorist groups and other illicit actors.
