KOHAT, June 29: Three militants were killed on Friday after security forces repulsed an attack on a checkpost in Naway Dand area of Thall tehsil in Hangu district, officials said.

They also said three security personnel were injured after militants fired gunshots at them and that they’re under treatment at a local hospital.

Officials said 30 to 40 armed militants attacked the Frontier Corps checkpost in Naway Dand area early on Friday in which three personnel were injured.

They said security forces retaliated leading to an exchange of fire, which killed three militants and injured three security personnel. Officials said the attackers later fled.

Meanwhile, police on Friday found the burnt body of an unidentified youth in the mountains of Shadikhel area in Kohat.

They said the youth was gunned down by unidentified men before being burnt. Police first shifted the body to KDA Divisional Headquarters Hospital for autopsy and then buried it at the Tehsil Municipal Committee graveyard.—Correspondent
