The emerging film scene seems to have everyone talking, with filmmakers from three major cities of the country heavily investing and working towards the revival of the long lost Pakistani cinema.
Where on one hand we hear about new names making their way in the entertainment industry and producing admirable work, we now also have our veteran actor Humayun Saeed’s upcoming film project to look forward to.
“Main hun Shahid Afridi" is produced by Humayun Saeed and Shahzad Naseeb, written by Vasay Chaudhry and directed by Syed Ali Raza. Dawn.com met with Humayun Saeed to gain some insight on what Saeed calls 'Pakistan’s first sports film'.

Because of Afridi pakistan has lost more matches than have one. Kindly look at stats. A cricketer who chews a ball on field with 28 cameras watching??? Who will do this Afridi!!!. The movie is really a waste of time and money.

"Mein hun Shahid Afridi"..Is this name of the movie??? Please change the name. Shahid Afridi is a good player but films names should not be associated with players. This is totaly biased act. Please "Main hun Shahid Afridi", replace "Shahid Afridi" with some proper name and that should be good name.

Afridi has been an unstable character and not a hero figure for everyone so yes a lot of people will not bother to watch the movie. It was better to just make a movie without an actual name.

AHHH!! once again u all are behind Shahid Afridi. Whats wrong in him? He is a super star and remain the shining star of Pakistan. At least he never defame our country like salman, asif, aamir, kaneria, butt, salim malik, wasim. He never cheated the country and never anyone can blame him of accepting even a single penny. Dude be be a big hearted man, and say spade a spade. Jus go through his analysis and records then say him a controversial figure. I think you are the one of those people who says keep yousuf and kamran akmal in the team...they are a super star...lolz!!

Shaid Afridi has been a controversal figure. The Film will be waste of money and Time. Humayun Saeed should start cricket academies in Pakistan intead. Yesterday Spain defended the UEFA 2012 cup successfully and the credit is given to youth soccer accademies and not players. Humayum must do that please.

Humayun Saeed's body language is all wrong. He looks most unexcited about his new venture. I am not convinced that this will be a movie worth watching.

Making films on sport legends is all over the world, True Nations honour their sport heroes, and they are a source of inspiration. Even our neighbour India is now making a film on Milkha Singh, the former flying Singh and it is being made by no other than Farhan Akhtar . I remember the movie chariots of fire, what a movie it was .I do appreciate the passion of the above gentleman to promote cricket in Pakistan. , I would suggest at your end, why don’t you donate a couple of cricket bats and tennis balls to any orphanage centre near your residence .In this way you will be earning the blessing of God and this will also give entertainment opportunities to the under privileged children.

Excellent idea. There would definitely be reservations on Afridi being central character; although there are good reasons for him to be there. But the intention is grounded on patriotism and hence noble.

nice attempt ,the trend of making movies on sport's legend is not something new, don't know why our movie makers haven't made any yet, so its good start, but afridi is very controversial choice,,,,it depicts that humyaoun is also taking commercial aspect in his mind , afridi is legend but he is too commercial ,,,,i think imran khan could have been a better choice.

Avid cricket fans will look at stats, the average movie goer doesn't even care about stats. They care about a concept, about small people doing great things - Afridi is one of them. Movies are about inspiring people and escaping harsh realities and Afridi is an inspiration for many kids. It's really as simple as that. Digging up stats and faults is for analysts/cricket fanatic, not for the average audience... If anything, the film will capture the attention of Pakistanis abroad since he's a well known player, and that's a good thing.
