SWABI, July 3: Nomads have been selling camel milk in different areas of the district and the commodity full of nutrients is gradually becoming popular among local people.

Most of nomadic families have reached areas of Topi tehsil and Salim Khan region and they stay in tents along with their herds of goats and camels. Selling milk of their animals is major source of their livelihood.

They nomads usually sell camel milk in local market early in the morning at around Rs75 per kilogramme. They can be seen arguing with people about the nutritional value of camel milk, mainly because people here are not accustomed to using this milk.

However, Chaman Bahadar of Salim Khan region said that more and more people had started to use camel milk as there is scarcity of the commodity throughout the region.

Dr Mohammad Jasim said that camel milk was a rich source of proteins, which gave strength to human body. Besides, whenever nomads arrive in main bazaars along with their camels it was a source of jubilation for city dwellers.
