KARACHI, July 15: The Rashid Latif Cricket Academy (RLCA) — known for their contribution in cricket across Pakistan — is now embarking upon to promote football by launching the inaugural RLCA Ramazan floodlit football tournament at the Korangi Stadium from the first of the holy month.

“Football is my great love and we are launching this event among the top departments and leading Karachi teams,” former Pakistan cricket captain Rashid Latif said on Sunday.

Departmental teams competing include national champions KRL, Army, HBL, KESC, NBP, Pakistan Steel , KPT, PWD, SSGC, PIA, Pakistan Navy, PQA, DFA Central, East, West and Malir.

“This is our first step towards promoting and developing football in the biggest metropolis of the country,” Rashid, an ardent Real Madrid fan, said.

He said during matches former Pakistan football greats will be invited as chief guests Rashid expressed the hope that large crowds will turn up because of big football following in Landhi, Korangi, Malir and other adjoining areas.—APP
