LAHORE, July 21: Commissioner Jawad Rafique Malik on Saturday paid visits to various Ramazan bazaars in the city and took notice of short supply of vegetables, fruits and meat in some of the bazaars till 12pm.

Accompanied by MNA Bilal Yaseen, the commissioner inspected Ramazan bazaars at Islampura, Karim Park, Dehli Gate, Tajpura Scheme, Parking Ground Shalamar Garden and main GT Road (Jallo Morr).

During his visits to Islampura and Karim Park bazaars, the commissioner noticed insufficient supply of vegetables, fruits and meat there.

He directed Data Ganj Bakhsh Town TMO and other officials concerned to ensure availability of all commodities in sufficient quantity. PROVISION: District Coordination Officer Noor-ul-Amin Mengal claimed on Saturday the citizens would be provided essential items on officially-fixed rate in all Ramazan bazaars of the city.

During a surprise visit to Shadman Bazaar, he directed market committee staffers to ensure availability of quality vegetables and fruits there. He also heard the citizens’ complaints and asked the officials to provide relief to them on the spot.

He told assistant commissioners and price control magistrates must remain alert in city and take action against those involved in overcharging and artificial price hike.

Meanwhile, the DCO took a serious notice of shortage of basin and chicken meat in Islampura Ramazan Bazaar and directed the city assistant commissioner Saira Umar to ensure availability of these items on priority basis.

DIRECTION: The DCO directed Wasa authorities to complete the on-going sewerage work at Kaacha Mandi within in a month.

At a meeting with traders’ representatives, he also asked the officials to ensure eviction of the traders doing business illegally without any license.
