THATTA, Dec 19: Sindh is passing through its worst political phase as the provincial government has been formed in return for the release of some 1,500 terrorists of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and nomination of a man who was wanted by the police as the governor of the province.
This was stated by the PPP MPA from Thatta district, Sassui Palijo, while talking to newsmen at the local press club on Thursday.
Sassui termed it highly regrettable that the Muttahida, one of the major coalition partners of PML-Q in Sindh, had not condemned the proposed construction of the Kalabagh dam, the Thal canal, spiralling unemployment, poverty, and illiteracy.
She said that the Muttahida had acquired power on its own terms, including 12 ministries and induction of a governor, whom she described as being a terrorist.
Such a bargaining, she said, was tantamount to pushing Sindh in the lap of India, adding that these people were known to have links with the notorious Indian intelligence agency RAW (Research and Analysis Wing).
The PPP MPA expressed pessimism, saying that such a tailored democracy, implemented under the umbrella of army leadership, would fail to deliver the goods.
Predicting that the new provincial government would be short- lived, she said that the new leadership in Sindh was making efforts to bargain with the PPP in by-elections, adding that it would be defeated.
Condemning the death of Farooq Sheedi, who had committed suicide by setting himself ablaze because of police atrocities, she demanded immediate arrest of his tormentors.
She also called for extra medical facilities for areas hit by gastroenteritis.
