THATTA, Aug 10: On the recommendation of the chief minister’s inspection team, the DIG of Hyderabad has ordered suspension of three officials of Thatta police for their involvement in illegal recruitment in the district police force.
This correspondent was also shown suspension letters issued by the competent authority.
Sheet clerk Sattar Solangi, former accountant of Thatta SP office Raja Shahid and head clerk Mukhtiar Mughal were found involved in a racket to help candidates get jobs after receiving bribe from them.
Around 45 unsuccessful candidates, most of them from the coastal areas, had approached the Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and sought an inquiry into the recruitment process.
It led to an inquiry last month. The two-member inquiry team — comprising Justice Hassan Ali Shah Bukhari and Abdul Jabbar, assistant director of the team — launched the probe on July 12 and recorded statements of the complainants who produced documentary evidence to substantiate their claim.
The candidates put forth proofs that many of recruited personnel were over-aged and selected in violation of rules. Even their required educational qualification for appointment was ignored.
The team asked the police officials concerned to provide relevant record, examination papers, domiciles and other documents but they failed.
