SIBI: An Anti-Terrorist Court in Pakistan has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for seven suspects in the murder case of Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, including former President Pervez Musharraf, DawnNews reported.
The other six against whom the warrants were issued on Wednesday by the court in Sibi include former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Former Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao, and former Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mohammad Yousuf.
Veteran Baloch leader Akbar Bugti was killed in a military operation in Kohlu in Aug 26, 2006, during military dictator Musharraf’s tenure as President of Pakistan.
The ATC is hearing the case on the petition of Bugti’s elder son, Jamil Bugti.
In the FIR filed by Jamil Bugti, who named in the FIR then president General (r ) Pervez Musharraf, then prime minister Shaukat Aziz, then Balochistan governor Owais Ghani, then interior minister Aftab Sherpao, then Balochistan chief minister Jam Yousuf and then provincial home minister Shoaib Nausherwani.
Last month, an anti-terrorism court issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of the accused, including Mr Sherpao, and fixed the hearing for Aug 15.
At the absence of Sherpao and Jam Yousuf from the court today, ATC judge Khan Nawaz Khan Barkazai ordered the investigation team to produce the suspects in court at the next hearing on Sept 5.
