ISLAMABAD, Aug 18: Former federal minister Muhammad Ali Durrani held a meeting with a member of the 14-member Parliamentary Commission on the creation of new provinces in Punjab on Friday and discussed with him making Bahawalpur a province.

The parliamentary commission has been constituted by National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza on the advice of President Asif Ali Zardari for carving out of a Janoobi Punjab province.

Mr Durrani met Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, the secretary general of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) and a member of the parliamentary commission, to gain his support for the Bahawalpur province.—Staff Reporter
