Sheikhupura struggling

LAHORE, Dec 22: Sheikhupura were struggling at 149 for four in reply to Lahore Whites’ 353 on the second day of the Quaid Trophy Group-III tie at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.

Earlier, Aamir Sajjad added 27 to his overnight score of 126 before he was finally out for 153.

In  other matches of the group, a close race for first innings lead was on between Pakistan Customs and Habib Bank at Lahore Country Club in Muridke.

Replying to Customs’ 276, the  bankers were 235 for eight when stumps were drawn for the  day.  

Test leg-spinner Danish Kaneria earlier took two more wickets to finish with five for 71 in 20.5 overs as Naeem Khan, the left-handed Customs batsman, fell eight short of a fine century.

At Saga Ground in Sialkot, Gujranwala earned a 49-run lead against  Sialkot thanks to excellent bowling by medium-pacer Naved Arif who grabbed five for 67.

Sialkot replying to Gujranwala’s first innings total of 280  resumed at two for loss and were all out for 231 in 72.4 overs.  Faisal Khan was their top scorer with 88 while from lower order  Shahid Khan  chipped  in with  44.

At close of  play,  Gujranwala were 16 for one in their second innings.
