ABBOTTABAD, Aug 22: Six people, including five members of a family, were killed and over a dozen injured in separate incidents in Abbottabad and Haripur districts on Sunday and Monday.

According to police, a family was on the way from Swabi to Nathiagali when their car on Monday veered off the road and plunged into a deep ravine near Bagnoter area of Abbottabad.

Head of the family Mohammad Riaz, his wife Naseem Bibi, his two daughters Sonya, 15, Shumaila, 11, and son Talha, 6, died on the spot, while his nephew Shoaib survived the accident but suffered serious injures.

Locals pulled bodies out of the ravine and shifted the injured to the district headquarters hospital, Abbottabad, where his condition was stated to be critical.

Also in the day, a man was killed by rival in Khanpur area of Haripur district.

Police said Naseem gunned down Babar Shahzad as the latter stepped out of a local mosque after offering Eid prayers.

In another incident, a car from Mardan area on Monday fell into a ravine near Bara Gali, injuring all the five people.

Changala Gali police with the help of locals shifted the injured to the main hospital in Abbottabad, where condition of the two was stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, nine people were injured in Bakot area near Nathiagali on Sunday when two groups clashed in a mosque over Eid prayer dispute.

The injured were shifted to DHQ Hospital, Abbottabad and were discharged after minor treatment.

Police booked people of the two groups under sections 324, 295,148 and 149 and began investigation. No arrest could be made until the last reports came in, however.

On Tuesday, prisoners clashed at Central Jail in Haripur injuring six over a dispute.

The jail administration called in police, which controlled the situation. The injured were shifted to Haripur’s main hospital.
