SANGHAR, Aug 23: The city of Tando Adam remained tense and closed on Thursday following lynching of a man by a mob on Wednesday night in Jatia locality.

A violent clash between a group of people and hundreds of neighbours broke out over alleged stay of a couple in an empty house of a man named Wali Muhammad Buriro who was killed in the fight. Three others were injured in the incident.

Business activities and work in offices and banks remained suspended.

There was thin traffic on roads on Thursday. Some youths resorted to aerial firing early in the morning.

Ghulam Mohammad Buriro was buried in Abdullah Shah Bukhari graveyard after a post-mortem in the Taluka Hospital of Tando Adam while injured Ghulam Sarwar Buriro, deceased’s son, Mithu Buriro and Iqbal Shaikh were admitted in the hospitals of Shahdadpur and Hyderabad. Two separate FIRs of the incident have been lodged with B-section police.

On the complaint of Gul Muhammad Buriro, brother of the deceased, a case was registered against 10 identified persons and 35 unidentified people under sections 302, 324, 147,148 PPC.

Police have arrested seven of the nominated, including Noor Muhammad Abbasi, Muhammad Akbar Shaikh, Yameen Shaikh, Anwar Rajput, Rashid Ali Shaikh, Abdul Hameed Shaikh and Iqbal Shaikh.

In another FIR, brother of injured Iqbal Shaikh lodged a case under section 324 QDO against six persons of the Buriro community and the alleged couple. Police have arrested Wali Muhammad Buriro, Faraz Qureshi and Rozina.

Dr Atique, who conducted the autopsy, said the deceased had been attacked by some hard object on the chest and head and he had died due to excessive bleeding.

Mirpurkhas DIG Dr Ghulam Hyder Jamali reached B-section police station Tando Adam late night. He suspended SHO Ghulam Mustafa Hingoro, ASI Shoukat Rajput and Constable Nadeem Rajput for negligence.

According to sources, when the mob was beating some people for an alleged objectionable act, police avoided intervening to stop or arrest the attackers.

DSP Tando Adam Ayub Brohi told Dawn that situation was under control and a heavy contingent of police had been deployed to avert any further untoward incident.

Our Staff Correspondent adds: Ghulam Sarwar Buriro, who was admitted in the surgical ward of Liaquat University Hospital, said he was going home with his father Ghulam Mohammad Buriro after taking medicines when the incident took place. Around 200 people were thrashing some people. When he asked them as to what had happened, they attacked the father and the son with sticks and knives. Some also opened fire.

He said he did not know about the attackers and he had no enmity with anyone. An ASI of B-Section Tando Adam police station, Shaukat, was present there, but he did nothing when people were beating them.

His father died instantly while he was referred to hospital from Tando Adam. Dr Sohail Soomro said that Ghulam Sarwar had received two stabbing wounds on his back but he was stable.
