GILGIT, Aug 25: Two people were gunned down and one man was injured in separate incidents of violence here on Saturday.

According to Superintendent of Police Tanweerul Hassan, police deployed near Rux Chowk stopped a man and confiscated his motorbike. This resulted in an altercation but the man was allowed to leave.

“He went home but returned with a pistol and opened fire on the police. A constable was injured and he died in hospital,” the SP said.

Police said the killer had fled, but he had been identified and a search was under way for him.

In Basin Khari, a shopkeeper, Karamatullah, was shot dead by two masked attackers. Another man was injured in an armed attack on a police team.
